A Cook County Circuit Court recently returned a verdict for a 2008 collision which occurred in Southern Illinois. In September of 2008, Bruce McIntosh was severely injured when his car was struck by a Rehmat tractor-trailer. Before striking the car, the truck ran a stop sign and continued on with such force that it propelled McIntosh's car off the road completely. As a result of the crash, McIntosh suffered multiple
herniated discs in his neck and back which required seven surgeries. The judgment was entered against both the driver and his truck company.

Father Was Killed In Truck Accident
The case involved a 27-year-old man who was killed when his car collided with a tractor-trailer semi truck. The semi-truck was pulling out of a driveway and pulled into the man's path. The defense argued that the young man was wholly or partially responsible for the crash and ultimately his death by claiming he was speeding. The claim was brought by the young man's sole survivor, his 2-year-old daughter. The wrongful death truck accident case was ultimately settled for $1.4 Million.

Teen Injured In Truck Accident Could Only Blink One Eye To communicate
A high school student injured in a 2008 truck accident crash was almost completely paralyzed as a result of a collision with a tractor-trailer. The injured teen was riding as a passenger in the car. That car drifted off the roadway and struck a tractor trailer that was alleged parked on the side of the road and sticking out by three feet. The driver of the car was cited for driving too fast for conditions and failing to slow to avoid a collision. The car driver had insurance coverage of $25,000.00 which was paid in settlement of the claim against her. The truck driver paid $1 million for parking on the roadway. An additional $256,000.00 was paid by some ranchers who owned the property adjacent to the road and encouraged the truck driver to park there.
